Left Chest Logo Digitizing Services
Turn your logo into a file an embroidery machine can sew cleanly on the left chest. Hand-digitized to the correct size and placement, not guessed by software.
What left chest digitizing means
Left chest digitizing is one of our embroidery digitizing services: it converts a logo into a stitch file sized and mapped for the standard left chest position on a polo, shirt, or jacket. A digitizer sets every stitch, direction, density, and underlay by hand so the design holds up at small scale.
The file is not a picture. A machine cannot read a JPG or PNG on its own; it only reads a stitch file like DST or PES. Left chest work uses the same digitizing skill as logo digitizing in general, but placement and size are locked to one specific spot, so there is less room for error.
How we digitize a left chest logo
Every file is built by hand in Wilcom. No auto-digitizing software touches your logo, because a machine guessing at placement and density leaves messy stitches.
We map the placement
We size the design to 3.5 to 4 inches wide and position it for the standard left chest spot, about 7 to 9 inches below the shoulder seam.
We choose the stitch for each part
Satin stitch for lettering and borders, fill stitch for solid areas, so the logo stays sharp at small scale instead of closing up.
We set underlay and density for your fabric
A pique polo, a fleece pullover, and a woven twill shirt all take different settings. We match ours to what you are stitching on so nothing gaps or puckers.
We send a preview and the final files
You confirm the placement and size. If anything needs adjusting, revisions are free and unlimited until the file is right.
Left chest logo size and placement standards
A standard left chest logo follows the same size and position on almost every garment. These are the numbers we digitize to.
| Spec | Standard |
|---|---|
| Typical width | 3.5 to 4 in (3.5 in common on polos) |
| Placement | Centered on the left chest, about 7 to 9 in below the shoulder seam |
| Minimum legible text height | About 5 mm (0.2 in) |
| Size tier | Standard, $15 flat |
| Rush turnaround | 1 to 2 hours, no additional charge |
If your logo has text under about 5 mm, we flag it before digitizing and adjust the layout so it stays readable once sewn.
Digitizing decisions we make for your fabric
The same logo needs different settings depending on what it is stitched on. Tell us the fabric at upload and the file arrives tuned for it.
Pique polo
The textured knit sinks stitches, so we raise underlay and tighten density slightly to keep edges crisp.
Fleece & sweatshirt
High-loft fabric swallows detail, so we add heavier underlay and tie-downs so lettering sits on top of the pile.
Woven & twill
Stable fabric holds fine detail, so we can run lower density and keep thin lines and small text sharp.
Stretch & performance
The fabric moves under the needle, so we add stabilizing underlay and pull compensation to stop distortion.
Not sure what fabric you are stitching on? Send it anyway. We will tell you what to expect.
A correctly digitized left chest vs a poor one
A correctly digitized left chest logo runs without a thread break, holds registration so colors line up, keeps small text legible, and lies flat with no puckering. A poorly digitized one shows gaps between colors, text that fills in solid, and puckering because density and pull compensation were never set for the fabric.
The difference lives entirely in the file, not the machine. That is why every left chest job is digitized by hand and proven with a real stitch-out, not a render.
